NJ1K peak map Park at the pulloff on the Warwick Turnpike halfway up the hill from Greenwood Lake and about .2 miles west of White Road. Cross the road and enter private property where the owner not only has given permission for hiking but helps maintain the trail! Once you leave this private preserve watch carefully for trail blazes as they are infrequent, old and many are on the rocks. The trail rises to a ridge where it rolls up and down for the first mile before turning sharply right and heading west. The next .25 miles is flat but after that the trail follows a right of way had climbs steeply fo5r another .25 miles. Stop anywhere along this part of the trail for some excellent views and picture taking opportunities. Once it gains the ridge the trail is essentially flat but does turn left and head southwest to Terrace Pond at about 2.3 miles into the hike. Terrace Pond is a beautiful natural lake which, unfortunately, can be accessed more easily from the other direction and is popular local destination. The viewpoint at the pond is elevated and you can look down at the water. Behind you are some cliffs and this is where the high point is located. After getting to the high point come back down and follow your route back to the car.
